Calorie Calculations

Solution

How are calories calculated?

Calorie expenditure is based on walking on level ground at 3.2 MPH (5.1 Km/hr.). Walking up stairs, uphill or on a surface such as sand will increase your calorie expenditure.

12.25 x body wt in kg/200 x 18.75 = calories per mile

Cal/mile x miles = calories burned

Miles = steps x stride length in ft./5280 ft per mile
